NATIONAL NEWS
Applix
BOSS '02 Conference
The
Applix BOSS (Business Optimization Software Summit) 2002 was held November 5-6 in Cambridge, MA. Decision Systems along with
other Applix Partners sponsored this informative event.
Event
Highlights
Most
notable was how Integra has now taken center-stage with
Applix. Even TM1 is clearly in the hearts and minds of Applix
Senior Management. This time folks, we are seeing more action
than words. Evidenced by the astute hiring of senior
executives who really know something about selling and marketing
products like TM1 including: Fred
Sullivan, VP of North American
Operations; Dave
Menninger, VP of Marketing. Hold on to your
seat belts, long-time TM1 users. Things are moving in the right
direction, FAST!
Most
educational was the session on TM1 advanced cube rules by Greg
Wilson and Manny Perez of Applix. For the PowerPoint presentation
Most
informative was, as usual, the user presentations, where one could
see TM1 put to use by real people, solving real-world business
problems. Perhaps Applix will make these user presentations
available for viewing by those who could not attend? We can
only hope.
Most
intriguing was the demonstration area where one could preview Integra,
TM1 8 along with TM1 Partner solutions Dynamo!,
decisionport
and PolyVista.

PERSPECTIVES - by Seemore
TM1
Word on the street is that Santa will be
updating his TM1 price list after Christmas 2002 and it won't matter if
you've been naughty or nice; It will soon cost you more to buy TM1.
Thank you Applix for a great BOSS '02 conference. Next time, let's
try someplace warmer and not during a close week and the month we're
finishing our annual plan! By the time Santa pays you a visit, TM1 8.1 will
have been released...Halleluiah! Attention...Attention Please...
Santa has left the building... and it's safe to upgrade to version 8.
Yes, there are new TM1 users in the Midwest. Who might you ask?
Seemore used to have to get clearance before disclosing such facts from
those running the "stealth marketing program". Tune-in
next month to see if things have changed. Kudos to Applix for hiring Dave
Menninger as VP Marketing. Menninger's resume includes stints at IRI (Express) and Oracle. Oracle purchased
IRI's Express a few years back for lots of bucks. Seems like Dave
knows something about sales too.
